Scanning (juvenile) Nucella

As of this week, a new sub-project involving juvenile gastropods, has begun. The young snails, also called dog-whelks (Nucella lapillus), are from the British intertidal rocky shore and will be scanned and analyzed with focus on their shells. First scans show promising results; clear images of the animals shells and sometimes even soft tissues could be taken. Below you can see pictures from some of these scans that demonstrate differences between individuals from different environmental conditions.
