We've started to scan cuttlefish embryos with our Skyscan 1172. Various settings are tested on the cuttlefish eggs to create scanning protocols for the assessment of the effect of ocean acidification on cuttlefish bones. We are trying to avoid the use of chemicals, such as staining, because these might have an effect on the density of cuttlefish bone. Furthermore, we are scanning cuttlefish eggs and embryos in order to see their development (ontogeny stages). Until now, the results of scanning tests are promising high quality images that fulfill our purpose, but we need to experiment a bit more.
